VIDEO PORTRAIT: ULLA WIGGEN

Artist Ulla Wiggen (s. 1942) is known for her detailed and poetic paintings. In the video, the artist discusses her practice from the beginning of her career in the 1960s to the present day. Through the years, the subjects of Wiggen’s paintings have shifted from computer components to portraits and landscapes, and recently, she has developed a special interest in depicting the human body and its internal organs, particularly the brain and the iris of the eye.

The video has been produced in conjunction with Ulla Wiggen’s exhibition Passage which was on view 18.09.2024–26.01.2025 at EMMA. The exhibition then traveled to Västerås Konstmuseum in Sweden. The video was also a part of her exhibition INSIDE / OUTSIDE at Fridericianum in Kassel in 2024. The exhibitions have been produced in collaboration with the museums.
