VIDEO PORTRAIT: ULLA WIGGEN
Artist Ulla Wiggen (s. 1942) is known for her detailed and poetic paintings. In the video, the artist discusses her practice from the beginning of her career in the 1960s to the present day. Through the years, the subjects of Wiggen’s paintings have shifted from computer components to portraits and landscapes, and recently, she has developed a special interest in depicting the human body and its internal organs, particularly the brain and the iris of the eye.
The video has been produced in conjunction with Ulla Wiggen’s exhibition Passage at EMMA which will open in September 2024, and her exhibition INSIDE / OUTSIDE which opened at Fridericianum in Kassel in February 2024. The exhibitions have been produced in collaboration with the museums.
