Documentary: Constructing a Forest

The Constructing a Forest documentary follows the creation process of Antti Laitinen’s (b. 1975) work Chiming Forest during 2024–2025.

Antti Laitinen is an artist based in Somero, Finland, who makes art from materials drawn from his immediate surroundings. Chiming Forest is a kinetic installation – an artwork involving movement – composed of branches and roots gathered from forests and logging areas. The trees are set in motion by a motorised mechanism, which creates a distinctive soundscape in the museum space. Produced by EMMA, the documentary highlights the stages of work and techniques used. The video has no narration, but features forest sounds such as birdsong.
